Cherie Joy Rochelle Peal, a member of the Lax Sgiik clan, has always excelled in the academic and cultural aspects of her life. When she was in grade six, Cherie was promoted to grade eight. Cherie was the valedictorian of her graduating class and addressed her class in Nisga’a, her native tongue.
Performing with the Gitlakdamix Ceremonial Dancers and playing an active role at any Lax Sgiik clan function are some of the things Cherie does in her spare time. She plans to attend the Northern Advancement Program at the University of Northern British Columbia and eventually receive her degree in physiotherapy.
